As two moms with little kids, we know that staying organized can be a huge challenge. Krystin has a four-year-old son and Vanessa has two daughters (four and one).
Since beginning our journeys in motherhood, we each have found a few products that make the chaos a bit easier to manage. Here are some of our favorite products for keeping our kids organized (sort of ... we all know it's an uphill battle). For the Mom On the Go Portable Stacking Snack Container
This random Amazon find is a diaper bag staple. You can customize the size by removing a container or two so the versatility is nice. Instead of having several different baggies or packages floating around the diaper bag, this keeps all snacks together. You could even use one of the containers for formula if your baby still takes a bottle. Great for babies, toddlers, and bigger kids alike!
This thing has definitely helped manage the car chaos that is dirty tissues and snack wrappers. I don't know how little people produce so much trash but it's non stop! Having a dedicated car trashcan that is adjustable and easy to empty is wonderful. Here is another car trash can option that hooks to the head rest and has a magnetic clasp to keep all the trash and smells enclosed.
Let's face it, my car is really my kid's car. This organizer has been a life saver to separate all the things I like to have on hand while we are on the go. There are separate pockets for wipes, snacks, water bottles, and small toys. It clasps in place using the seat belt which helps it not slide to the other side of the car when I take a turn. This helps keep my car more clutter free, and my son can easily access it whileI'm driving and he is buckled in his car seat.
Here is another car organizer option if you would like two separate large openings instead of one large one. Both are great options!
Sophisticated Splash Time Storage
I love that this bath toy holder isn't as obnoxious as other bath toy storage products. It's white, has a pretty slim profile, and holds a considerable amount of bath toys. It easily suctions to the tile and hasn't yet come off.
There is an even extra big version for just a few dollars more if you need a bit more storage. If your tile won't hold suction cups, this toy caddy sits perfectly between our tub and toilet. The base separates so you can empty out the water that drips from the toys once bath time is over.
Around the House
Lazy suzan's obviously have infinite uses but I have found them to be incredibly useful with children's medicine by creating a "most used meds" station. Utilizing the lazy suzan that can be divided into four sections, I have sections for Tylenol, Motrin, Cold & Flu, and Allergy.
It makes it very easy to access whatever medicine I'm needing at the time - no more searching.
Bonus Tip: Keep a dosing chart for your most frequently used meds taped inside your medicine cabinet so you're not frantically trying to Google the dosage while your screaming child has a fever.
I did not know how positively these simple pouches would impact parenthood. They are particularly useful with toys that have smaller accessories. Use the included label pocket to identify which toy the parts go with.
These pouches have also made it easier for my kids to independently move a toy they are wanting to play with. For example, we keep all of the Little People figurines in their own pouch, alphabet magnets in their own pouch, and dress up jewelry in its own pouch.
In an effort to encourage independence, I use this cart for all of my kid's cups, plates, bowls, and utensils. If my daughter wants some water, she knows how to get her own cup and fill it up. I don't yet allow her to grab her own food or snacks but when she's a bit older, I'll have some that are accessible to her.
If she needs a fork or a spoon, she knows where to find them. Before this cart housed all of my kid's cups and plates, it was used as a breastfeeding station and a mobile office supply/bill pay station. Endless uses! These small bins can be place in each level to separate items and help keep the system organized.
My one year old recently weaned off bottles, yay us! If your baby is still using bottles, you know what a pain it is to keep those bottles clean! I wish I would have found this product when my oldest daughter was using bottles. With her, I used a plastic tub that we kept next to the sink.
This collapsible sink is, as the title implies, collapsible. It was in constant use at our house but having the option to put it away is a nice perk. Other great features include a plug, a drain, and two handles. We used this collapsible sink as a central holding place for dirty bottles and then would soak them in hot, soapy water and scrub them before sanitizing them.
My son was very into the DUPLO LEGOS leading up to turning four. I love the interactive and imaginative play they help foster, but LEGOS are messy! I got these front zip bins to contain all of is larger LEGOS. The front clear window or the top can unzip for easy access. In another one of these we keep balls and other sports type activities.
I love that I can SEE what is in them through the front window. Also, they are stackable to help get the contained mess from taking up more floor space. My son is transitioning from the DUPLO LEGOS but I know I will repurpose this container for his next obsession.
